The Gardner Rotary Club is a new proud partner with Sleep in Heavenly Peace (South KC Chapter) to build beds for kids in our community that currently do not have them.

The Gardner Rotary Club recently entered into a 3-year partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace (South KC Chapter) to host a bed build day over a three-year period. Learning that almost 5% of kids in ANY community do not get a good night's sleep in their own bed, the club determined it was a great opportunity to meet the needs of some of the less-fortunate in our area. Club member Sean Snyder recently shared with the club his own struggle as a child who didn't have the luxury of sleeping in a bed until he was well into elementary school. "This is why this matters to me so much. No kid should have to go through that".

The partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace calls for the Gardner Rotary Club to build 20 beds (10 sets of bunk beds) each year, resulting in 60 kids getting beds of their own in the community. Rotary will raise the $3500/yr cost to build the beds and recruit volunteers for bed build days - the next of which will happen on Saturday, October 26, 2019.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace - South KC Chapter is one of almost 100 chapters that have sprung up nationwide in the past 5 years. As a result of the success in Gardner, they have recently partnered with the Spring Hill, Osawatomie and Paola Rotary clubs, furthering their mission of making sure no kid goes without a bed in our region. They are currently soliciting businesses who want to consider doing a build with their employees.
