Gardner Rotary works hard to make a difference.

Here are just a few of the important projects that impact our community.

Funding Literacy for 2nd Graders

The Gardner Rotary Foundation provides funding to support reading in the classroom. All 2nd-grade teachers in the Gardner Edgerton School District receive a stipend to purchase books for their classroom library and/or students. Thousands of books have been purchased in the last two years. The Gardner Rotary Foundation coordinates this initiative with the Gardner Edgerton Schools Foundation.

One 2nd-grade teacher sent this note of gratitude: "Thank you so much for your generous support of our 2nd-grade classrooms. Because of your funding, I was able to start a class book club for my students. With the funds, I purchased four books for each student, giving them their very own set to read and enjoy. We now meet once a week during lunch to discuss what we've read and it has quickly become the highlight of our week. I have students begging for extra time to read, asking to take their books to recess, and showing excitement about reading - some for the very first time. Watching the enthusiasm and confidence grow has been such a rewarding experience. Thank you for investing in our students and helping create meaningful opportunities for them."

We are proud to have recently completed our latest grant-funded service project in partnership with Living Life Ranch Foundation. Through this effort, we were able to donate sand for one of their arenas...an improvement they have been working toward since 2016. This upgrade will significantly enhance the safety and quality of their programs, which serve individuals through therapeutic and recreational experiences. Being able to help bring this long-standing goal to fruition is a powerful example of how Rotary service can create real, tangible change in the lives of others.

Rotary Members volunteer monthly at the Hope Market Food Pantry and for the Harvesters Food Distribution.

The Hope Market is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering our community through various programs and initiatives. Our mission is to make a positive impact and create a better future for all.

Harvesters provides food and related household products to more than 900 nonprofit agencies including emergency food pantries, community kitchens, homeless shelters, children’s homes and others. We also offer education programs to increase community awareness of hunger and teach about good nutrition.
